Gregory Gottfried on the Writing Life

For Gregory Gottfried, writing is not a way of life, it’s his life. He has worked on his own screenplays and stories since high school, re-writing the scripts of some of his favorite movies, including Scream, Collateral, and Vacancy. Gottfried is drawn to a very fast-paced, ever-deepening thriller and reads authors like Lee Child and Vince Flynn religiously. He is drafting and re-drafting his first novel, a thriller he hopes to have published by 2017. Gottfried is nearing the end of his latest draft and is eager to find representation and a publisher. He may try to publish the book himself to get it out by 2017.

For these writers, these strugglers, they must toil in day jobs for years before their literary career takes off. Gregory Gottfried himself works at the Sheraton Tarrytown Hotel, but he, like many great writers before him, will not be discouraged or placated until his dream of writing professionally and publishing the stories he needs to tell is achieved. Gottfried knows he will succeed in the literary realm because of his voracious reading habits and his religious, productive writing schedule that keeps him up at night working on his novel.
